Banaras Hindu University (abbreviated as BHU), in the past Central Hindu College, is a university collegiate college situated in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. It was established in 1916 mutually by the Maharaja of Darbhanga Rameshwar Singh, Maharaja of Banaras Prabhu Narayan Singh, Madan Mohan Malaviya, Sunder Lal, and British Theosophist and Home Rule League originator Annie Besant. With more than students dwelling nearby, it’s the biggest private association in Asia.
