On March 28, 1998, by the Govt,  Master Gobind Singh Indraprastha University was established as Indraprastha University (IPU). of NCT Delhi as a state college under the arrangements of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University Act, 1998 with its Amendment in 1999. The University is perceived by University Grants Commission (India) under area 12B of the UGC Act. The college was named after the old fanciful city of Indraprastha, which includes the legendary Mahabharata noticeably.
